Teresa Rae, M.A., LMHC
Teresa is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Rhode Island and Massachusetts with over 20 years of experience working in community health and inpatient settings. She earned her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Expressive Arts Therapy from Lesley University in 2002. She enjoys continuing to delve into learning relevant treatment modalities, and also provides clinical supervision to post-graduate students.
Teresa has extensive experience supporting children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families as they work to resolve the impact of trauma and adverse experiences. Her work with children and adolescents is generally within the context of engaging their caretaking system. This may include forms of parent-child play therapy, Therapeutic Parent Coaching, The Nurtured Heart Approach, Trauma-Informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Attachment-Based Family Therapy. She also works with families whose children are struggling with social and behavioral challenges.
Other modalities Teresa draws from include: Internal Family Systems, Creative Arts Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, as well as experiential, and somatic-based interventions. She also has significant experience supporting those who may be struggling with depression and other mood disorders, various types of anxiety presentations, and those who have been identified as being on the Autism Spectrum. Teresa is a nurturing and collaborative therapist who will take the time to empathically listen and understand your unique concerns and perspectives.
