Therapist, Doctoral Trainee

Jewelia Ferguson is doctoral student clinician pursuing her Ph.D. in clinical psychology. She believes that the therapeutic setting is a collaborative supportive space where the client and the therapist work together to help the client on their personal healing journey.


Jewelia has a passion for working with children and adolescents who have chronic illnesses, physical disabilities, or are coping with medical conditions. She also works with families and parents who are dealing with the stressors of having a child with a chronic illness. Her areas of specialty include a wide range of mental health concerns such as coping with stressors, experiences of discrimination, anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, and trauma.


Jewelia has worked with all age groups. She utilizes many evidence based treatments in her practice including Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBCT), Person-centered therapy, and culturally-informed approaches to therapy.  Her doctoral research examines coping with chronic medical conditions, discrimination, and mental health in children and adolescents.  She believes that the client is the expert in their lived experiences. Jewelia’s goal is to help the client feel supported as they strengthen, change, and navigate aspects of their lives.
